Gyranda Santa Gertrudis Stud Open Day

The Gyranda Information and pre- Sale selection Day is always a popular annual event, with cattle breeders often travelling long distances to attend. This year it is on Thursday 12th August, starting at 9am.

The setting on the banks of the Dawson River, make it one of the most scenic sale yard complexes in Australia. Burnett and Louise Joyce always ensure there are interesting speakers, with topics that aim at “improving the profitability of your beef operation”.

This year they hope to incorporate a tour of inspection of the Gyranda herds, giving cattlemen and women the opportunity to see the basis of the stud. Burnett Joyce will be discussing the Gyranda operation.

Each year the Joyce Family invite specialists in the industry, to assist people in their decision making, aimed at enabling them to minimize their risks and maximize their profit. This year they have:

  • Grame Hopf, who is always a popular speaker, with his innovative approach to Structural Soundness.
  • John Bertram, DPI Beef Extension Officer from Goondiwindi, who will explain the technical data available to assist clients in their purchase decisions.

The Sale Bulls will be on display, giving people the opportunity to inspect them at leisure, with the ability to walk through them, ask questions of the Gyranda team, and make pre-selections without the pressure of sale day. Many find this invaluable, as they can discuss their situation with Burnett, or any of the speakers, and get advice on possible purchases. It also enables them to make their selections, in the event that they find they are unable to attend the sale.
