Breeding Philosophy
Our Philosophy and Feedback
Our aim is to produce moderate framed, well muscled, fertile animals of quiet disposition and sound structure.
We strive to provide cattle that will not only be a sound investment for our clients, but one where profits are maximized.
We strive to satisfy our clients needs in the best manner we can, and feedback is an important part of this. Feedback from commercial cattlemen tells us...
- That they don't want bulls over-conditioned. At Gyranda we address this problem with our feeding regime. Our bulls are prepared in the paddock, on crop and pasture, without grain supplementation. This healthy growth allows them to perform at their full potential.
- That they want cattle that will survive and reproduce in harsh environments. Our cows are raised on pasture, under natural conditions. Any cow that loses or misses a calf after a four month joining period is culled.
- That they consider temperament to be vitally important. The Gyranda cattle are well regarded for their ease of handling, and placid nature. Temperament is one of the most important considerations in the cattle industry.
The Gyranda herd is the result of decades of selection, using both visual appraisal and objective measurement. Emphasis on early sexual maturity and adequate scrotal size has helped ensure a highly fertile herd.
Feedback tells us that our bulls do well under natural conditions, are extremely fertile and continue to grow out. We feel we must be doing something right! The number of repeat buyers is the proof of the pudding!
